The 1992 Kansas City Chiefs season ended with a 10–6 record and Wild Card spot in the 1993 playoffs. The Chiefs were shut out by the San Diego Chargers 17–0 in the Wild Card round. The 1992 Chiefs season began on a high note when on September 6 they beat the San Diego Chargers 24–10. 22 days later at Arrowhead on Monday Night Football they beat the Los Angeles Raiders 27–7. The Chiefs would eventually go 4–2 in the first half of the season. During the season; the Chiefs wore a "WWD" patch on their jerseys in tribute to vice president of player personnel Whitey Dovell, who died in May 1992.
