Berend Jansema

Berend Pieter "Bé" Jansema (24 January 1943 – 14 February 2021) was a Dutch politician and member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy. He was mayor of Rossum (1981-1989), Heerewaarden (1981-1989), Harlingen (1989-1997) and Coevorden (1998-2003). After retiring as mayor, he came up with a plan to facilitate zeppelin tours over the Wadden Sea. That plan, which caused a lot of public debate, ultimately did not happen. Jansema died in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria on 14 February 2021, aged 78.
