The Texas Rangers Major League Baseball team has played 60 seasons since its establishment as the Washington Senators in 1961. The team was unsuccessful in its early years, not having its first winning season until 1969. It moved to Arlington, Texas, in 1972, and continued to perform poorly, with only one season of over ninety wins and not a single postseason appearance until after the 1994 strike. After the George W. Bush/Edward W. Rose Partnership bought the team in 1989, the Rangers earned three postseason appearances in four years (1996 to 1999).
