Prisoner (Internationally known as Prisoner: Cell Block H in the United States and United Kingdom) is an Australian soap opera created by Reg Watson. It was produced by the Reg Grundy Organisation and premiered on Network Ten on 26 February 1979 in Sydney and 27 February 1979 in Melbourne. After 8 seasons and 692 episodes, the series concluded on 11 December 1986. On 1 April 1997, Prisoner commenced broadcast on Channel 5 and a complete run of the series was shown. The final episode was screened on Channel 5 in 2001.
