Battle of Sievershausen
The Battle of Sievershausen occurred on 9 July 1553 in Sievershausen (today part of Lehrte in present-day Germany), between the troops of Albrecht of Brandenburg-Kulmbach and those of the Protestant Schmalkaldic League. 4,000 soldiers were killed, including the Protestant commander, Maurice, Elector of Saxony. Albrecht's retreat was covered by General Joachim von Röbel, who became famous as a result and ended his days as a field-marshal.
