The Phoenician shipwreck of Xlendi (Malta) was discovered in 2008, thanks to a systematic sonar survey of the coasts around Malta and Gozo. This study was supervised by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage in order to uncover all the underwater archaeological remains lying in the Malta's territorial waters.
