'Akbara

Akbara (Arabic: عكبرة‎‎) is an Arab village, a de-facto neighbourhood in the city of Safed. Originally a Jewish village during the classic period, it took part in the First Jewish-Roman War. Later, the village has little to now records during the Middle Ages, being Jewish until late Fatimid period, but probably abandoned by 11th century. An Arab-majority village existed during Ottoman and British eras. Prior to summer 1948, there was a Palestinian Arab Muslim village, located 2.5 kilometres south of Safed, which was depopulated of original residents and populated by displaced Arab residents from nearby.
