The 1986–87 Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team represented Indiana University. Their head coach was Bobby Knight, who was in his 16th year. In the championship game versus Syracuse, which featured three future long-time professional players, Indiana trailed 73-70 in the last minute. However, two late shots by Keith Smart, including the last at 0:05, won the game for Indiana.
