Contested at 160 laps on the 2.5 mile (4.023 km) speedway, it was the twenty-first race of the 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season. Jimmie Johnson of Hendrick Motorsports won the race, his fourth win of the season. Matt Kenseth finished second and Kevin Harvick finished third.
