The 2015 Roger Federer tennis season officially commenced on 4 January 2015 with the start of the 2015 Brisbane International. This season saw Federer slightly improve on his previous results as well as his playing style. He added a new tactic called the SABR (Sneak Attack by Roger) to his arsenal. Like his 2014 season, Federer reached 11 finals. Highlights from his season included winning his 1000th career match in Brisbane, surpassing 9000 aces in Dubai, winning his first red clay court title in almost 6 years at the Istanbul Open, and 2 Grand Slam runner-up finishes at both Wimbledon and the US Open. Despite the success, Federer was unable to hold on to the No. 2 ranking and ultimately ended the year at No. 3 with 6 titles.
