The 27 Kinder European Challenge, in which Nathan Farrugia and volunteers ran a full marathon, every day, across 27 different EU states, began on 11 September 2011. The Challenge was concluded successfully in Cyprus on 7 October, 27 days later. The event was funded by Ferrero, the chocolate maker. The Challenge was timed to coincide with the European Year of Volunteering and to raise funds for charity. Veracity of success - Nathan was tracked by live GPS spotter to confirm distance covered, as well as being followed by eyewitnesses and the media in most countries.
