Adal Sultanate

The Adal Sultanate or Kingdom of Adal (Arabic: عدل ʿadl‎‎ "justice") was a medieval Muslim state located in the Horn of Africa. Founded by Sabr ad-Din II after the fall of Sultanate of Ifat. It flourished from around 1415 to 1577. The sultanate and state was established by local Somali tribes (predominately), Afars, Arabs, and latterly, Hararis. At its height, the polity controlled large parts of Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Eritrea.
