Agrotown (Belarus)

An agrotown (Belarusian: Аграгарадок, Russian: Агрогородок) is an official type of rural settlement in Belarus introduced by the Law «Об административно-территориальном делении и порядке решения вопросов административно-территориального устройства Республики Беларусь» The Law speaks about rural settlements as follows: If a selsoviet (rural district) has agrotowns, its administrative center must be in an agrotown. If there are more than one argotowns, the selsoviet center is assigned by the District Council of Deputies.
