An Khê District

An Khê is a town (thị xã) of Gia Lai Province in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 63,118. The district covers an area of 199 km². The district capital lies at An Khê. Located on the main highway, QL-19 between Qui Nhơn on the coast and Pleiku in the Central Highlands, An Khe was of strategic significance during the Vietnam War.
