Art punk

Art punk is a style of music originating in late 1970s post-punk. The term was used as a pejorative for higher-educated punk rock bands who were out of step with the genre's ideologies. It generated punk's aesthetic of being simple, offensive, and free-spirited, in contrast to pub rock, which generated its angry, working-class audience.
