Artists House

Artists House was a jazz record company and label established in 1977 by John Snyder. The roster included musicians Snyder had worked with while running the Horizon division of A&M Records: Jim Hall, Charlie Haden, and Ornette Coleman. Snyder was the first to produce James Blood Ulmer. The label was known for the quality of its recordings, liner notes, and packaging. Its musicians were given control of their music, from recording to album cover. Snyder is currently president of Artists House Foundation.
