The Attorney-General is the chief lawyer of the Pakistan government who serves as a legal adviser to the Federal Government of Pakistan and enjoys rights of audience before the Parliament. Nominations comes from the Prime Minister's Secretariat that leads to the appointment confirmed by the President of Pakistan. The Constitution bars the Attorney-General from private practice until the termination of his or her employment. The office of Attorney General was established in 1947.
