Caesarea Golf & Country Club
The Caesarea Golf & Country Club is the only 18-hole golf course in Israel. Caesarea is an upscale coastal town located approximately halfway between Haifa and Tel Aviv. The course was designed in 1961 by Fred Smith and Herman Barron, and passes through ancient Roman ruins. It was the first golf club opened in the country, and only one of two (with the other being a 9-hole course in kibbutz Ga'ash north of Tel Aviv). Because it is the only full course in Israel, the golf course fees are quite expensive. Every four years the Maccabiah Games golf competition is hosted by the club.
