Chocó vireo

The Chocó vireo (Vireo masteri) is a species of bird in the Vireonidae family. It is found in western Colombia and has recently been found in north-west Ecuador. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss. The species was not described until 1996. The scientific name was decided by an auction to raise money for conservation of the bird's habitat. It was named Vireo masteri after the winner Dr Bernard Master.
