Club de Fútbol América S.A. de C.V., commonly referred to as Club América, or América, is a professional football club based in Mexico City, Mexico. It competes in Liga MX, the top professional league in the country. The team's nickname is Las Águilas (The Eagles). América was founded on 12 October 1916, and since 1959 is owned by media company Grupo Televisa. The team plays its home games at the Estadio Azteca, the largest stadium in Mexico and Latin America, and the third largest association football-specific stadium in the world.
