Corynebacterium (/kɔːrˈaɪnəbækˌtɪəriəm/, /kɔːrˈɪnə-/) is a genus of bacteria that are gram-positive and aerobic. They are bacilli (rod-shaped), and in some phases of life they are, more particularly, club-shaped, which inspired the genus name (coryneform means "club-shaped").
