The palace was erected by John Bancroft, a 17th-century Bishop of Oxford.The original palace was replaced by a second palace.The palace burnt down in the 1960s.Ripon College Cuddesdon is in the grounds of the palace, which is now a private residence. The Bishop of Oxford now resides in North Oxford.
