Filipinos (Filipino: Mga Pilipino) are those who are citizens of the Philippines and/or whom identify with the country. The people of the Philippines come from various ethnolinguistic backgrounds, although the vast majority of Filipinos are of Proto-Malay stock, an Austronesian race, originating in Southern Taiwan. While there are many ethnolinguistic groups in the Philippines, they are often divided into three main groups — Those from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
