Fort Phoenix State Reservation
Fort Phoenix State Reservation is a small Massachusetts state park on Buzzards Bay in the town of Fairhaven maintained by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. The reservation is adjacent to Fort Phoenix, an American Revolutionary War fort and national landmark managed by the town of Fairhaven. According to local lore, the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War was fought near here. Across the bay, the Elizabeth Islands may be visible from the remnants of the ramparts.
