Hrand Alyanak
Hrand Alyanak (Armenian: Հրանտ Ալյանակ; 1880 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire - 1938 in Paris, France) was an Ottoman Armenian painter and author. Of Armenian descent, Hrand Alyanak (Hrant Alyanakyan) was born in Istanbul and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, taking lessons from Salvator Valeri. In 1896 he went to Bulgaria, and from there to Caucasia, where he worked as an artist in Tblisi and Baku for five years and wrote articles for local Armenian newspapers. He went to Paris in 1907 and there worked mainly at copying paintings in museums. His landscapes shown in exhibitions at the Salon des Independants generated considerable interest.
