Inauguration of the Dutch monarch

The Inauguration (inhuldiging) of the Dutch monarch is the official enthronement ceremony, in which the new monarch ascends the throne, swears the oath on the constitution, and receives homage from the States General. Article 32 of the Dutch constitution states that as soon as the King assumes royal prerogative, he is to be sworn-in and inaugurated in Amsterdam at a public joint session of the two houses of the States General. The King is required to swear allegiance to the Constitution to faithfully discharge his duties.
