Israel at the 2016 Summer Olympics

Israel competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was Israel's 16th appearance at the Summer Olympics. Israel sent 47 athletes to the Games, breaking its previous record of 43 set in 2008, and also setting a new record with athletes competing in 17 different sports. On 3 August, two days before the start of the Olympics, the International Olympic Committee for the first time officially honored the 11 Israelis murdered during the Munich massacre.
