Korpo

Korpo (Swedish pronunciation: [korpːu]; Finnish: Korppoo, [ˈkorpːoː]) is an island located in the Turku archipelago. It is a former municipality of Finland. On 1 January 2009, it was consolidated with Houtskär, Iniö, Nagu and Pargas to form the new town of Väståboland. As of 1 January 2012 Väståboland was renamed Pargas (Parainen in Finnish), which is also the name of a town on one of the islands, which has proven somewhat confusing for tourists and visitors to the area. Korpo also has a ferry terminal on the north of the island operating ferries to Houstkär, Norrskata and the Åland islands.
