Lake District Peninsulas

The Lake District Peninsulas is a neologism used by a quango to promote part of the Furness area of north-west England. Specifically it refers to the Furness Peninsula, or Low Furness and the Cartmel Peninsula. The term has little basis in either history or geography. The majority of the area in question is not part of the Lake District National Park, and those local to the area have never considered it to be part of the geographic Lake District. This has led to the term being treated with derision by many residents of the area.
