This page lists the members of Stanford University, including students, alumni, faculty and academic affiliates associated. Founded in 1885 by former California Governor and U.S. Senator Leland Stanford and his wife, Jane Stanford, the university was opened on October 1, 1891 as a coeducational and non-denominational institution. During the 1950s and 1960s, Provost Frederick Terman supported faculty and graduates' entrepreneurship to build self-sufficient local industry in what would later be known as Silicon Valley.
