Steven Universe is an American animated television series created by Rebecca Sugar. It is produced by Cartoon Network Studios, and is the first show by the studio to be created by a woman. The series focuses on the adventures of the Crystal Gems—ageless alien warriors who project feminine humanoid forms from magical gemstones that are the core of their being—and the humans they interact with in the fictional town of Beach City. It has received critical acclaim for the diversity of its characters and their depth of characterization; its portrayal of relationships, including queer relationships; and its subversion of stereotypical gender norms.
