National Stallion Stakes
The National Stallion Stakes was two American Thoroughbred horse races inaugurated in 1898 at Morris Park Racetrack in The Bronx, New York. The race was separated between two-year-old fillies and colts and was for a time one of the premier events for that age group. Notable male winners include the winner of the first edition for colts, Jean Bereaud (1898), Colin (1907), Sweep (1909), Sarazen (1923), Chance Shot (1926), Blue Larkspur (1928), Pompoon (1936), Jet Pilot (1946) and Porterhouse (1953). Among the fillys, Tanya (1904), who went on to beat her male competition in the 1905 Belmont Stakes, Bowl of Flowers (1960), Affectionately (1962), and Gallant Bloom (1966).
