New Zealand National Party

The New Zealand National Party (Māori: Rōpū Nāhinara) is a centre-right political party in New Zealand, and one of the two major parties in New Zealand politics. The party leader is John Key, the Prime Minister of New Zealand. The party was founded in 1936 with the formal merger of the United and Reform parties, which had previously been in a coalition, making it the nation's second-oldest political party. National was in government for four periods of the 20th century. It has favoured economic liberal policies since the 1990s.
