Northern England

Northern England, or North of England, also known as the North or the North Country, is the northern part of England and one the country's three principal cultural areas, along with the Midlands and Southern England. Geographically, the area roughly spans from the River Trent and River Dee to the Scottish border in the north. Northern England roughly includes three statistical regions: the North East, North West and Yorkshire and the Humber. These have a combined population of around 14.9 million and an area of 37,331 km2 (14,414 sq mi).
