The Catalan Countries (Catalan: Països Catalans, Eastern Catalan: [pəˈizus kətəˈɫans], Western Catalan: [paˈizos kataˈlans]), or Catalanic Community, is an ambiguous broad umbrella term which can refer to the territories where different varieties of the Catalan language are spoken or to irredentist and pan-nationalist political ideas of uniting such territories into a sovereign state.
