Piravi

Piravi (Malayalam: പിറവി, meaning The Birth) is a 1989 Malayalam feature film directed by Shaji N. Karun. It stars Premji, Archana and Lakshmi Krishnamurthy. The film was made on the life of Prof. K. Eachara Warrier, the father of Rajan, a student in Kozhikode Engineering College, who is believed to have been murdered during the National Emergency Period of 1976. The film's music is composed by G. Aravindan and Mohan Sithara. Piravi met with widespread critical acclaim upon release. The film was screened and very well received at many film festivals across the world, winning at least 31 awards in total, including the Caméra d'Or — Mention Spéciale at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. It also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film at the National Film Awards in 1989.
