It has popularly remembered as "Little England" named so by the British during their regime mostly due of its cool weather. In Thally block total of 50 Panchayat villages are there. The nearest major town is Hosur. The chairman for (2011-2013) of Thally block is Mrs. Jayshree Chandrappa. The current MLA for Thally constituency (2016- till) is Mr.Y.Prakash.
