The Body Lovers and The Body Haters were drone/dark ambient musical projects headed by composer Michael Gira, more prominently known as the front man of Swans. Both projects served as an outlet for Gira's loop experimentation and was compared to the compositions comprising the 1996 album Soundtracks for the Blind. The music was built around samples and found sounds, some of which dated as having been recorded as far back as 1980.
