Sleigh in 1855 as The Daily Telegraph and Courier. Since 2004, it has been owned by David and Frederick Barclay. The paper had a circulation of 523,048 in March 2014, down from 1.4 million in 1980. The Telegraph is widely regarded as one of the UK's principal 'newspapers of record' and has been described by the BBC as being "the newspaper of the establishment".
