The main operating unit, Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH, declared insolvency on 24 April 2008. The company was run by an insolvency administrator, Bruno M. Kübler, from 2008 until July 2013 when it was sold to Continental Motors, Inc.. Continental is owned by AVIC International, which is in turn wholly owned by the Government of the People's Republic of China.
