Tonawanda Railroad

The Tonawanda Railroad was Rochester's first such company to be organized, in an early 19th century flourishing of railroad companies, as entrepreneurs worked to develop better transportation and service to markets. As happened - both directly and indirectly - to a number of small rail companies, it was absorbed by the larger New York Central.
