USS Sylvia (SP-471)

The second USS Sylvia (SP-471), later USS SP-471, was a United States Navy patrol vessel in commission from 1917 to 1919. Sylvia was built as a private motorboat of the same name by Sam Williams at Marco, Florida. On 6 June 1917, the U.S. Navy acquired her from her owner, J. Alwood of Winter Haven, Florida, for use as a section patrol vessel during World War I. She was commissioned as USS Sylvia (SP-471) on 4 September 1917.
