World Humanitarian Summit
The United Nations World Humanitarian Summit (WHS), was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 23 and 24, 2016. The Summit is an initiative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon and was organized by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA). The Summit convened 9000 participants from 173 countries, including 55 Heads of State and Government, hundreds of private sector representatives, and thousands of people from civil society and nongovernmental organizations.
