1972 Wimbledon Championships – Men's Singles

Stan Smith defeated Ilie Năstase in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–3, 4–6, 7–5 to win the Gentlemen's Singles tennis title at the 1972 Wimbledon Championships. It was Smith's only Wimbledon singles title, and his second, and final, Grand Slam singles title. John Newcombe was prevented from defending his title due to the International Lawn Tennis Federation ban on World Championship Tennis contract players competing in their tournaments.
