The 2015 Houston Astros season was the 54th season for the Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise in Houston, their 51st as the Astros, third in both the American League (AL) and AL West division, and 16th season at Minute Maid Park. The Astros made the playoffs for the first time since 2005, and the first time since moving to the American League. They defeated the New York Yankees in the Wild Card Game before taking the eventual World Series champion Kansas City Royals to five games in the Division Series, nearly pulling off a major upset.
