Abbenrode

Abbenrode is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it has been part of the municipality of Nordharz. The village is situated north of the Harz mountain range, near the Ecker creek and the border with the state of Lower Saxony. After World War II the village became isolated and decayed owing to its location close to the inner-German border. Since German reunification Abbenrode has recovered.
