Abdul Rahim Sarban

Abdul-Rahim Sārbān' (Dari/Pashto: عبدالرحیم ساربان) (1930 – April 2, 1993), known as Sarban, was an Afghan singer born in Kabul. He is known as the Frank Sinatra of Afghanistan and was the first Afghan artist to break away from the prevalent musical forms in Afghanistan at the time, the Indian inspired pure classical tradition (epitomized by Ustad Sarahang, Rahim Bakhsh), and the 'Mohali' (regional & folk) musical traditions exemplified by the Dari music, logari, qataghani, qarsak.
