Adolf Marks
Adolf Marks (* 2. Februar 1838 in Stettin; † 4. November 1904 in Sankt Petersburg) war ein deutscher Buchhändler und Verleger. Auf Empfehlung von Fritz Reuter trat Marks 1854 die Buchhändler-Lehre bei Hinstorff in Wismar an. Seine Wanderjahre führten ihn nach Berlin und in seine Vaterstadt. Marks folgte 1859 einem Ruf der Firma Bietepage & Kalugin nach Sankt Petersburg. Von 1860 bis zu seinem Tode gab er dort die Zeitschrift heraus. Das Blatt, der Gartenlaube nachempfunden, hatte 1904 immerhin eine Auflage von 254 000 Exemplaren. 1897 wurde Marks geadelt (erblicher russischer Adel).
