Aljoša Asanović

Aljoša Asanović (born 14 December 1965) is a Croatian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He currently works at the Croatian Football Federation as a diaspora coordinator. Asanović is best known for his performances in the mid-to-late 1990s when he played for Derby County and for Croatia during Euro 96 and the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He scored the first goal in Croatia national team's modern history. He was nicknamed Vatreni Lakat (lit. 'Fiery Elbow') for his style of running with elbow pointed out, moving opposing players.
