The name Ambav comes from the term "Ambyache Van" meaning "Jungle of mangoes". Ambav was formed by merger of two villages 'Kond Kadamrao' and 'Kond Bhujbalrao' . Situated in the mountains ranges of Konkan, Ambav has a mild climate.
